Minnesota Health Care Safety Net Coalition

The Minnesota Health Care Safety Net Coalition is comprised of health care and nonprofit organizations whose missions include serving the uninsured, low-income Minnesotans and others who face barriers to obtaining needed health care due to their income, language, race or ethnicity. Coalition members have disproportionately large numbers of uninsured patients compared to other health care providers and operate with a mission to serve everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Coalition advocates on behalf of safety net health care providers to expand access and improve coverage under government programs for uninsured and underinsured individuals, and to seek funding and policy changes that will benefit the people served by its members.  The Coalition also promotes communication, learning and sharing of best practices among safety net organizations in order to improve access and quality and promote better health.

MISSION:

The Coalition's mission is to bring together people and organizations that comprise Minnesota’s health care safety net to work on joint activities to improve access to affordable health coverage and ensure access to quality health care services for people who are uninsured or underinsured or face other barriers to access.
